The Youth Foundation of Jersey City  Scholarship Opportunity

The Waldo School is incredibly excited to give back to our Jersey City community by offering scholarships for students in the 5th, 6th and 8th Grades! The Waldo School is a private school offering grades preschool through 8th Grade, located in downtown Jersey City. The school is an accredited International  Baccalaureate World School, offering the Primary Years Program. As an IB World School, our mission is to develop students who respect and care for others, understand the differences and the commonalities among people worldwide, and are committed to creating a better and more peaceful world. To reach this goal, The Waldo School provides students with opportunities to learn in an academically enriching program that believes in hands-on, experiential learning. In addition to the core subjects, students also participate in enrichment classes, such as robotics and programming,  drama and public speaking, fine arts, physical education, and Spanish as a foreign language. Every child is supported through individualized attention and a strong focus on social and emotional well-being.

Students interested in applying for the scholarship should follow the below link to access the initial application. Upon receipt of the application, the school will reach out to families directly to request transcripts for the current school year plus the previous two years (2019 - 2020, 2020 - 2021, and 2021  - 2022), recommendation forms completed by the student's classroom teacher, and to schedule an interview with the student.

Students who are awarded a scholarship will continue to keep their scholarship for all subsequent  academic years until they graduate in the 8th Grade, as long as they meet the below requirements:

• Each student must maintain good attendance (they cannot miss more than 20 school days in a  year and must arrive at school on time- 5 late arrivals will count as one absence).  • Each student would need to complete all assignments and participate in the classroom  • Each student would need to maintain proficient levels of understanding within their school  subjects
